What does a Body Composition Analysis involve and how does it benefit my health?
In health terms, ‘Body Composition’ refers to the overall structure of our bodies, measuring the percentage and levels of the key components; fat, bone mass, water and muscle mass.
In addition to that, a body composition analysis will also measure nutritional information such as levels of protein and minerals, body strength, and most importantly, the percentage of visceral fat – something you cannot determine from the scales alone. It determines lean body mass and percentages of fat, bone and muscle, and whilst historically people often gauge their health based on their physical weight, a body composition analysis is a far better indication than weight alone.
So how does it work?
An amazing machine that measures every component of your body, including muscle, bone, fat and water.
Electrical impulses are measured in just several minutes to identify areas where muscle is weak or strong, and percentages of fat in comparison to muscle. It is a great starting point when it comes to considering managing weight and improving your health as it provides a much more accurate picture of exactly where you need to improve. Everyone is different, and knowing exactly what you are made of, with a better, more rounded understanding of your overall health, is the first step in helping you to achieve the optimum health for your body.
Once analysed, the Grayshott Gym team will recommend areas to focus on, and suggest how to address any problems and concerns.
